Student Council Fund Raising
At the last meeting of the student council a target was set to try and raise £5000 this term for various equipment and seating requested by students to support their leisure time within school. The student council decided on the following initiatives which will run through or finish within this term. The fund raising activities are as follows:
Row to Lourdes (Sponsored by Concept 2 rowing machines)
Following the success of the Ride to Rome 2 years ago that raised over £1500 the council this year is going to Row to Lourdes. This will involve 1 team from each new house (3 teams in total) and a Staff team trying to Row the 1008 mile to Lourdes over 2 days. Each team has been asked to raise £1 per mile so hopefully this event will raise a minimum of £1008. The teams will be chosen in the first week of July so anyone interested please talk to Mr Nash, the student Council lead for this event Anica Taylor 10KF and put your name down.
Does your pet need a new pet tag?
The student council with the help of the design and technology department will be selling pet tags in various shapes. You can have your pet’s information such as name and contact number on the tag. The cost of the Pet tag is £2.25 and the tag is made of weather resistant acrylic. If you would like one of these original pet tags then please drop Mr Nash an e-mail at email@example.com or pop a long to see Mr Nash in room 15 or speak to Danielle Horsley (10AR) Student council Lead who will be happy to give your further details.
Donington Park Race experience
As part of the Saint John Houghton student council fund raising campaign this term we have a Donington Park race track driving simulator set up in room 6 every dinner time. If students/staff in school feel you are the next Lewis Hamilton or Giovanna Amati come on down and drive the Ford Focus RS around the circuit and see if you can lead the leader board.
The cost of entry is £2.00, this includes a test lap and a timed lap to give you the experience and chance to be the best driver in the school. The experience is open to all year groups. The best driver will receive a prize at the end of this round of fund raising activity.
All funds go towards the school council to support activity and equipment that the students have asked the student council to buy, please spend just £2.00 and give it a go.
Finally, if there are any businesses or people who know of anyone who would consider supporting the Student Council in terms of providing sponsorship, prizes for these activities or prizes that the student council could Raffle in the future. Please get in touch with Mr Nash, Student Council Lead for further information.
