Welcome to Saint John Houghton!

On behalf of the pupils, staff and the Governing Body of Saint John Houghton Catholic Voluntary Academy, I am delighted to welcome you to our website.  I do hope you will find it of interest and that it will help give you information about our school community.

Saint John Houghton Catholic Voluntary Academy opened in January 1965 as The Blessed John Houghton Catholic School to provide a secondary Catholic education.  The school has grown in size and reputation ever since.  We are an 11-16 comprehensive providing education for girls and boys of all abilities.  Saint John Houghton Catholic Voluntary Academy is proud to be part of the Saint Robert Lawrence Catholic Academy Trust.

Our aim is to deliver the best education, opportunities, support and care for every child as sons and daughters of God.  We strive to ensure that the children in our care are loved, valued and supported and leave us as confident young adults ready for life in our modern society.

Christ is at the centre of our school and we strive to live by and teach the values of love, forgiveness, excellence, compassion and service to others.  Our motto is “Garde ta Foi” which means “Keep your Faith”.

Our website aims to give you detailed information about our school and you are welcome to arrange an appointment to visit us if you are interested in learning more about Saint John Houghton Catholic Voluntary Academy.  There are many organised activities throughout the school year that you are always welcome to attend.

Many thanks for visiting the website.
