Ski Trip 2017

On Friday 10 February 2017 37 students from Year 10 and 11 along with Mr Parr, Mr Ritchie, Mrs Joslin and Mr Warden and their families set off on the 24-hour trip to Aprica in Italy for the annual school ski trip.

After a long journey and quick ski fit everyone went to bed ready to start lessons bright and early on Sunday morning.  All groups apart from the skied before group, began to learn the basics on the nursery slopes.  The short walk from the hotel back and forth for lunch meant the groups made great progress over the next few days, leading to everyone using the lifts to the top of the mountain and skiing the long blues and reds down.  The top group managed two difficult blacks towards the end of the week which was fantastic.  The week finished with the slalom races where Chris Sheppard was top of the school!

Evening activities included a fun treasure hunt around the town, bumboarding down the flood lit nursery slopes and some scary ice skating in the town.

The group really worked hard over the week to improve their skiing and everyone made great progress.

A big thank you to all the staff involved.

Mr Warden

Music Quiz Night

A charity music quiz will take place on Friday the 3rd of March to raise money for both Children with Cancer UK and Bone Cancer Research Trust.

The quiz night will raise money in memory of two brave teenagers: Patrick Ward who sadly died of Leukaemia, and Alex Read of Bone Cancer.  It is Patrick’s tenth anniversary year and Alex would have been 18 this year.

With your help and support, these extremely important charities can continue to grow and help children successfully undergo treatment.

Parish Youth Group

Jake Smith and Louis Smith delivered an outstanding Act of Worship on Wednesday.  The brothers returned to SJH to invite and inspire pupils to attend the Parish Youth Group they are setting up.  How wonderful to see past pupils putting their faith into action!
