Saint John Houghton achieved The National Healthy School Standard in 2008. This initiative is embedded in the “Every Child Matters” policy which states that every student should be taught to, Be Healthy, Stay Safe, Enjoy and Achieve, Make a Positive Contribution and Achieve Economic Well-being.
To achieve the award, the school had to meet a set of standards based on four core themes. They are Personal, Social and Health Education, Healthy Eating, Physical Activity and Emotional Health and Well-Being. This award is reviewed regularly and we are constantly looking to further develop all four areas to ensure that our students get the best possible start in life acquiring the tools that they need to continue to grow and develop into adulthood.
