One lunchtime a week, the Justice and Peace group meet to discuss humanitarian issues, which concern issues of justice and fairness in our world. We try to make a difference in any way that we can in an attempt to improve the lives of those in need.
Our work is predominantly concerned with raising awareness and funds to support the work of CAFOD, Street Child Africa and other national and international charities each year, which is selected by the group at the start of each academic year. The charities we support always work for the good of human beings and work to bring justice to the world.
Some of our activities have included preparing shoe-boxes for the poor in Nottingham and Derby, sending Christmas cards to prisoners of conscience around the world, leading whole school Acts of Worship to make others aware of our work and volunteering at the Hope Centre in Derby. Last year the group held a CAFOD day for all of Year 7 to raise awareness about issues that CAFOD deal with.
We are extremely proud of who we are as a group and what we aim to achieve. We always welcome new members and anyone wishing to join should come along at 12:30 on Wednesdays to Room 1.
