Surviving GCSEs – A Guide for Parents

Dear parents of Year 11

Many thanks to those of you who attended the session ‘Surviving GCSEs – A guide for parents’ the other evening.

For those who could not make the evening, please find the presentation HERE. Hopefully it will be useful in helping your child to prepare in the months ahead!

As always, if there is anything you need, do not hesitate to ask.

Post 16 Careers Evening

A reminder to all students in Years 10 and 11 and their parents of our Post 16 Careers Evening that we are holding on Tuesday 23 October between 5pm and 7pm. We have over 25 providers of post 16 education and training coming to school to inform our students about their options when they leave Saint John Houghton. These providers have a range of post 16 courses, including A level courses and apprenticeship opportunities. Some of our providers coming to school on that evening include, The Beckett School, Webs Furniture Training, Rolls Royce, Derby College, Confetti college, NCN, the Royal Air Force, Benedict’s School and an organisation called ASK, who seek to inform and educate young people about apprenticeships.

It is really important that all Year 10 and 11 students take this opportunity to speak to these providers and begin to think seriously about future careers.
